Festival and Events in Vietnam

Hanoi 1000th Anniversary

Hanoi’s 1000th Anniversary on 10th October 2010 will be a huge event. Celebrations will be held in Hanoi in the month leading up to the big day, and to be sure there will be an electric energy of excitement in the city at this time.

Vietnamese New Year

Vietnamese New Year (Tet) will be on the 14th February 2010. Buffalo Tours generally recommends avoiding travel one week either side of this date. Although the country is vibrant and exciting at this time, trains, buses and flights are often booked out or expensive; restaurants, shops, tailors, and some key sites are closed; and the floating markets in the Mekong do not operate for one week after Tet.

Vietnam International Triathlon

The Vietnam International Triathlon will be held late August and provides a great excuse for sporty travelers to visit Vietnam at this time to compete in this Olympic distance triathlon race.

Hoi An Full Moon Festival

The Full Moon Festival in Hoi An is held on every 14th day of the lunar month. Under the full moon, Hoi An becomes one big centre stage where locals participate in reviving the golden days of prosperity and folklore cultural activities. The entire town is lit with colourful silk lanterns – a magical, romantic time to take a peaceful stroll around the old narrow streets.

2010 Hue Festival

Held every two years, the 2010 Hue Festival will be held from the 5th to 13th – a nine day cultural indulgence of Vietnamese arts and rites set in this beautiful ancient capital. The month leading up to this celebration will also include celebrations and festivities in preparation for the big event.
