Cambodian Government Announces New Legislation Favourable to Ecotourism

The Ministry of Tourism in Cambodia have published their intention to draft a new law promoting ecotourism, in collaboration with the French University of Toulouse and the NGO Acting for Life. The aim of this initiative is to foster cooperation between private and public institutions to develop tourism in Cambodia, while taking steps to protect the environment, local culture and support struggling communities.

Buffalo Tours has already taken many steps to establish ourselves as a pioneer of ecotourism in Cambodia. The regional office has developed close ties with NGOs and charitable organizations, which share our values of responsible travel and sustainable tourism. Buffalo Tours Cambodia recently won our internal Responsible Travel Awards 2016, with their plan for increasing revenue to suppliers that employ disadvantaged youth in the area around Angkor Wat.

We are very proud of the progress already made by Buffalo Tours Cambodia and hope that this new development will allow them to play an even bigger role in the promotion of ecotourism in Cambodia. We also expect that this will allow us to help our customers attract even more eco-conscious travelers to the country.
