New International Airport Terminal Open in Phuket

Following 6 months of systems checks and test runs, the new Phuket International Terminal opened on Friday the 16th of September.

The new terminal will handle 12.5 million passengers, matching Phuket's increasing tourist numbers. The airport, which is connected by 46 airlines to more than 37 destinations, served more than 12.5 million passengers in 2015 and is set to continue expanding.

Airports of Thailand have confirmed that, after further renovations the old terminal will act as a domestic terminal.

These changes coincide with Air Asia's announcement of a new Phuket - Siem Reap route for November 7th. This is the first link between the two destinations and encompasses Air Asia's desire to bring new opportunities to ASEAN.
